The obstruction of the dog's tear duct is a disorder of the excretion system of dog's tears, causing tears to spill from the dog's eyelid edge. It is mainly seen in the stenosis or obstruction of the punctum, punctum or nasolac duct in dogs.

1. Causes of lacrimal duct obstruction in dogs:

1. Congenital nature is often caused by tear atresia or the conjunctival wrinkle wall covering the tear.

2. Acquiredly, it is seen that the tear ducts fall from eyelashes, sand and other foreign objects, as well as trauma and inflammation, causing swelling or falling off the lumen mucosa.

3. In other dog breeds with larger eyeballs, such as Peking University, Maltese University, etc., the tear holes or punctum are compressed by the eyeballs, and tears cannot be excreted into the nasolac duct, and unilateral or bilateral tears may occur.

2. Key points for diagnosis of dog tear duct obstruction:

1. Tears overflow from one side or both eyelid edges of the dog, and traces of tea-brown tears can be seen below the inner corner of the eye or gather into viscous secretions.

2. Because this skin is impregnated by tears for a long time, eczema may occur.

3. Prevention and treatment measures for dog tear duct obstruction:

1. For congenital lower piercing atresia that causes dog tear overflow, piercing reconstruction surgery can be performed.

2. To eliminate possible foreign bodies or inflammatory products in the dog's lacrimal duct, use penicillin-containing saline to perform strong tear duct rinsing.

3. For insufficiency of stubborn lacrimal duct stenosis or obstruction, nasolac duct can be performed to permanently expand the stenosis of the lacrimal duct. The tumor must be removed due to tumor compression.
