Rodri was interviewed by Spanish Le Paín and talked about his way of playing football.
Q: Can you still enjoy pure happiness when playing football?
Rodri: Well, what do you mean by happiness?
Q: Enjoy the process of training and competition, and love what you do.
Rodri: No, I don't always like what I do, it's obvious. I don’t think I will say every day when I wake up: WOC, I’m so happy to play football! I know I am a lucky person, but this profession has difficult moments and extremely tormenting moments.
Some days you don't want to get up and go to training. Especially when you get stuck in a cycle of constantly playing, playing, playing again…and you have to win and win. Among some of the teammates I know, they don't enjoy this, which is normal because sometimes it will drive you crazy and it will crush you. Some people collapsed.
Q: Do you show your true self when playing football?
Rodri: I don't know what others are like, but I am. I think this is very important. Some excellent players will insult their opponents, provoke their opponents, complain and fake falls from the second minute of the game... I can't understand these behaviors. I am on the court and I have the same ambitions in life and games. But obviously some players are not like this, so I won’t name them.
