After Norgao's transfer to Arsenal this summer, the captain's armband was vacant, and Brentford coach Case Andrews handed it to Collins before the 2025/26 season begins.
Collins was the youngest captain in Stoke City's history (18 years and 105 days), and he also served as captain of the Irish national team when Coleman was absent.
Collins said: "It is a great honor to be the captain of this great football club. Those who have served this position before were outstanding figures and players."
"I am very excited about the challenges of the new season. With your support, it will be a special season."
coach Andrews said: "I have known Collins since he was about 14 years old. At that time, I was coaching some Irish youth teams."
"Corlins has always been a natural leader. He has gained extensive experience at his age and has taken his professionalism to a new level because he has been in this environment for several years and has learned from some excellent people."
"Corlins has a strong communication skills and has very good values both on and off the court. Naturally, the players will surround him. He has won the respect of all the players and staff. This is a key trait."
"Corlins is a very suitable person, but he is just a player and he needs the support of all of us and all of the players in the locker room."
"We have some very experienced players in our team and will form a leadership group around Collins. They will have a say in how we act because I attach great importance to players participating in the decision-making process, participating in what we do and how we do it."
Corlins' Cherry in Ireland Orchard's youth training camp grew up and joined Stoke City at the age of 15. He spent two years at Stoke City Youth Training Academy, starting for the team for the first time at the age of 17 in a 0-0 away draw with Middlesbrough.
Collins made 27 appearances in Stoke City's final year before being sold to Burnley in June 2021, starting a new challenge in the Premier League.
Later that year, Collins won the Irish national team call for the first time and made his debut in a 4-0 victory over Qatar in Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
Despite Burnley's relegation, Collins is still one of the team's key players and was signed by the Wolves in July 2022. He played 26 Premier League games for Wolves and moved to Brentford the following summer.
In his first season for Brentford, Collins made 35 appearances in various competitions and scored his first league goal since joining the 3-2 win over West Ham.
During the 2024/25 season, Collins was the only non-goalkeeper in the Premier League to play every minute, during which he contributed 38 impressive performances at the centre-back position.
