A few days ago, The Athletic counted the number of local players in each Premier League team (local players whose team is located in the same city, in the same area, and a 45-minute drive from the club).
In the 2025-26 season, there were only 2.7 local players per team in the Premier League on average. Villa, Leeds United, Wolves and Burnley have no local players, while Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Bournemouth have only one local player.
