Former Manchester United youth training Timothy Fosu Mensa recently accepted an interview with PA news agency. He talked about Amorin, his old club Manchester United and his experience of finding a team again after not playing for a year.
After suffering a serious injury to the ACL during his 2019 play for Fulham, Fosu Mensa was injured again when he only made his seventh league appearance for his new club Leverkusen in February 2021. Fortunately, injuries have become a thing of the past. Now at the age of 27, he is seeking to restart his career after he has not been interested in the team throughout the season.
Mensa said: "Last season was the first time in my career that I had no ball to play all season. It was really too early at this age, and it was abnormal for others. But I knew that I always worked hard, and my efforts would always be seen. Those dreams of joining the giants with nothing to do is contrary to my beliefs. This is undoubtedly a new starting point, and I have been giving it my best."
Although the last official game dates back to April 2023, Fosu Mensa is not worried about the difficulty of making a comeback. He specifically pointed out other cases of players who temporarily left the field for some reason, as well as his persistent training plan to support it. In fact, after Leverkusen won the championship in 2023-24, he felt that his physical and mental state was stronger than before. He remained healthy except for the three-week injury period, and more troubles came from the agency chaos after the termination of the contract last summer.
He said: "Some agents are creating chaos everywhere, and even people I have never met before are acting in a name. It is estimated that 80% of the so-called agents I have come into contact with the club. I don't know anything about the so-called agents I have come into contact with. In the winter window, I did have contact with the English Championship team, some are informed, and some are completely kept in the dark." The "Fusu-Menza No. 51" Manchester United jersey framed on the background wall of Mensa's home is particularly eye-catching. He said: "I will always be a fan of the Red Devils. I joined the 16-year-old franchise and left at the age of 23, and have gained countless wonderful moments, especially when I won the cup in my new year. Everyone understands Manchester United's background and pursuit, even though I have made a sensation last season. Zha, they still reached the Europa League final, this kind of championship DNA is deeply rooted in the club's blood."
For Manchester United's new coach Ruben Amorin, he analyzed: "I have studied his tactical system and employment standards. My friend Saint Just at Sporting Lisbon praised this coach very much, and I believe Manchester United has made the right choice."
Fusu Mensa expects that the club and players can be transferred in the new season, and specifically mentioned Rashford, who made his Premier League debut at the same time as him when he played against Arsenal in February 2016: "I just hope he will smile again. As long as he finds happiness, his talent does not need to be said, he is always a top player."
